Ebsco's PsycINFO

PsycINFO - one of the EBSCO databases - is a wonderful resource to use for searches related to psychology. An important thing to remember is that PsycINFO is a digitized collection of abstracts from professional journals. With that being said, most searches will not yield full text information. No problem! Just bring your citation information to the circulation desk and our staff will try to locate the full text of the article from another library.

Here is an example:
From the library home page, select Online Databases - (If you are off campus, please click at the top of the page for off-campus access) - EBSCO- Full Text Journals - PsycINFO - Continue

Be sure to choose advanced search!

Add your search terms, change pulldown box to subjects and change date:

Your search yields the following results:

Click on Number 2 and take a look at the Abstract:

Finding the full text of the article:

Now click on the "Cite" button on the right hand side to get the citation for the article.  Next try clicking "Check SFX for full text" on the left hand side. SFX is a link resolver that searches for matching information from the journal and title to other databases that Sauk owns. SFX often links to the full text from another resource, but not always. If not, don't worry; just give the citation information to the staff at the circulation desk and they will request a copy of the article from another library.

Clicking the SFX for full-text gives the following screen:

If the screen says "Full text may be found in ______", you might find the full text in another database or other resource. (I-Share VuFind and the Voyager Catalog are book resources, so the full text will not be found there.)
If the full text article was not found, just give your citation information to the staff at the circulation desk and we'll do our best to find your article in another library.

Thanks for reading our LRC quicktips!  Check back for more information on using our databases!
